Privacy Policy

wyd helps friend groups coordinate spontaneous hangouts. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We collect the minimum needed to run the app, and we never sell your personal information.

Information we collect

• Your phone number. wyd uses your phone number as your identity — there is no email or password. We use it to create your account, verify you with a one-time code, and let friends add you to a circle.
• Profile details. A display name and, optionally, a profile photo you choose to upload.
• Content you create. Circles, hangout posts, RSVPs, and any text you add (such as a plan title or vibe).
• Push notification token. If you allow notifications, Apple gives us a device token so we can send you push notifications about hangouts and RSVPs.
• Contacts (only if you allow it). If you grant contacts access, wyd matches your contacts on your device to help you add people to a circle. Your contacts are not uploaded to our servers or stored by us.
• Usage and diagnostics. We collect basic, privacy- respecting usage events and crash/error reports to keep the app working and improve it. We do not use this data to track you across other apps or websites.

How we use your information

• To create and secure your account and verify your phone number.
• To deliver the core experience — creating circles, broadcasting hangouts, and showing who has RSVP'd.
• To send push notifications you have opted into.
• To diagnose problems, prevent abuse, and improve the product.

How we share information

We share information only as needed to operate wyd, and with service providers who process it on our behalf:

• Twilio — to send one-time verification codes by SMS.
• Apple Push Notification service — to deliver push notifications.
• Cloudflare R2 — to store profile photos and media you upload.
• Hosting and infrastructure providers — to run our servers and database.

Within wyd, people in a circle can see content you post to that circle and your RSVPs. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.

People who RSVP without an account

Someone can be added to a circle or RSVP to a hangout by phone before they create a wyd account. If that describes you and you would like your information removed, contact us using the details below.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the app, which removes your profile and personal content, subject to limited records we may need to keep for legal, security, or anti-abuse purposes.

Your choices

• Notifications and contacts can be turned on or off in your device settings at any time.
• Account deletion is available in the app and removes your personal data as described above.
• Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your information. Contact us to exercise them.

Children

wyd is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above when we do.
